Insight on the election of Pope Francis

Pope Francis

I had a chance to ask my half-brother who is a Catholic priest about his reaction on the election of the new Pontiff, Pope Francis (read more about Pope Francis here), early this morning. Here’s his reply to my query:

I am deeply happy about the election of the new Pope, Francis I. A man of humility, he was not even mentioned among the 10 “papabili”. Truly God’s ways are different from man’s. Much as I wanted to be in front of the TV during the whole time of waiting, I could not. But I had a strong feeling that because of the guidance and inspiration of the Holy Spirit, God will give us a new spiritual and ecclesial leader in no time. Indeed, God has surprised us and in a very short time, He has given us the leader in Pope Francis. I am filled with hope because the Lord really loves his Catholic Church. The Lord has given the Church a new leader who has loves and works very hard for and with the poor in Argentina. And this time, he will make us love the poor even more. Also, he will continue the legacy of Benedict XVI in taking care of the faith of the flock. And I believe he will strengthen the efforts of the Catholic Church in her ecumenical dialogue with the people of other religions so that the vision of God’s unity (“that they may be one”) will be achieved.

Well said, Father Joebeth. Thanks for the great insight.

My brother (inset) stayed for a while in Rome, Italy. He is with Don Bosco. He was ordained as priest in December 8, 2000.

Prayer request2

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.” – Matthew 7:7-8

I stumble a website through Facebook encouraging readers to submit their prayer requests be it for physical, mental or spiritual healing.

I wrote three prayer intentions on the online form, namely;

  1. The healing of my ailing cousin Cecil.
  2. The healing of my mother’s arthritis.
  3. And, the healing of my husband’s severe headache.

I submitted the prayer request in the morning or was it midday, hubby was able to go to work without any pain or discomfort in the afternoon. An answered prayer indeed. Thanks be to God.

Passing on the love of reading

A girl named Trisha previously owned this book. But it somehow made its way to a magazine stand in our area. One of my kids who frequent the place saw the little book upon piles of magazines and bought it.

When my son checked the inside page, he saw a hand-written message signed by a girl named Trisha.

The message reads:

To the lucky kid who got this,

This book is special to me. It was a gift from my aunt and late uncle, so I cherished this book. But when I look at the children who look for food in the streets, I wanted to help. So I donate this book that I treasured for 3 years or four, so take care of it and enjoy reading!

*I memorized this book with all my heart, so keep this book safe for me!

Her love for books is truly remarkable.
